The Role

As Events Staff, you will assist UCA Students’ Union in the smooth running of event ticketing and customer entry to our events. This will mainly involve selling tickets/wristbands in the UCASU office or at the door on event nights, but will also entail promotional activities where necessary. As such, you will be required to work evenings with late-night finishes.

Job Purpose

  1. To facilitate the smooth running of entry to UCASU events.
  2. To deliver excellent customer service to students and their guests.
  3. To promote UCASU events.

Main duties and responsibilities

To operate tills, taking cash and giving change in line with procedures set.

    1. To handle cash, stocks and equipment in a secure manner.
    2. To work safely at all times and to report any potential hazards on to a supervisor/line manager.
    3. To maintain an awareness of operating rules and procedures and observe them at all times.
    4. To assist with the distribution of promotional material for Union events.
    5. To carry out any other relevant or appropriate duties as directed by your line manager.
    6. To sell tickets on the door for all events where required.
    7. To keep all box office related equipment in order
    8. To follow appropriate procedures for club entry.
    9. To actively promote UCA Students’ Union events.
    10. To assist in the set up and take down of barriers, tills and door equipment every shift.
    11. To be flexible in approach to work and undertake other duties as and when required.
    12. To attend training events as required.

STANDARDS

  1. As the post holder will have considerable contact with customers, Staff will need to act in a polite, courteous and helpful manner. At all times Staff will be concerned with ensuring that customers are satisfied with the service received.
  2. The post holder will present themselves for work being clean and tidy, wearing any stipulated uniform cleaned and ironed, or theme dress.
  3. The post holder will display the highest standards of integrity at all times.
  4. The post holder will observe high standards of punctuality.
  5. The post holder will not consume alcohol or illegal substances whilst on duty or arrive on duty under the influence of either.
  6. The post holder will have a flexible approach to the hours, days and roles given. The post holder will be expected to regularly work on the most popular entertainments nights including Summer Ball, Freshers and other major events.
